Located southwest of the water building. Shrub approximately 1m in diameter. The woody main stem is a deep red colour and 1cm in diameter. The branches are a softer, light green coloured wood. The leaves branch out in an alternating pattern. The underside of the leaves are less waxy and a lighter shade of green than the top of the leaves. The veins on the leaves occur in an alternating pattern.

Dusky Grasshopper (Encoptolophus costalis)Observer

Sighted in the mowed grass just southwest of the water building. Approximately 1 inch in length. Body is mainly green in colour, although the rear segment is spotted brown on top, helping it blend in with its environment. The head segment has 2 antenna and brown eyes. The mid section has four legs, two on either side, light brown in colour. The body is segmented. The rear two legs are substantially longer and thicker than the front four, and hinge so that they are folded and do not exceed the rear most part of the body. Sighted in 12°C weather, sunny with minimal cloud cover.

Seven-spotted Lady Beetle (Coccinella septempunctata)Observer

Sighted on a Russian olive in the tall grassy area just southwest of the water building. Roughly circular in shape, approximately 1cm in diameter. Head is black with 2 large white spots and 2 small ones. Main body is a dark red colour and is segmented. The two main segments split the body in half. Each half has 3,1mm diameter black spots and one black spot nearest the head spreads across both halves. 2 small, dark coloured antenna are visible on the head. Sighted in 12°C weather, sunny with minimal cloud cover.
