On a hillside, far from any other trees like it. The leaves look like they've been eaten, in the shade for half of the day.

we found eggs under a mossy rock, underneath an oak tree. there were nine eggs in total, including one that didn't hatch.

these eggs were observed earlier this year before they had hatched.
