Manu (Birds) (Class Aves)Observer
cahutchingDescription
I've seen these eggs one at a time in native bush before, but empty after being eaten by possums or rats. I had thought kereru because of the size, but then we found a batch of six on the forest floor: all intact and rotten, and not in any sort of nest of hollow. They're about 5-6 cm long, white but with the faintest touch of blue in bright light. The shells are very hard, with a tough inner membrane.
