Quercus bicolor found next to a parking lot in the main park at Henry Horton State Park. Near a picnic area. Enter the park and begin driving around loop drive. Specimen located in parking lot off of drive. Specimen is relatively young. Found near several grass species along with Acer rubrum.

Amur Honeysuckle (Lonicera maackii)Observer

Lonicera mackii found on the Wilhoite Mill Trail. Found in abundance. Nearest species are large trees. Predominantly Acers and Quercus. The plant is non native and invasive. It had once completely controlled the area. The flowers are white and yellow and incredibly fragrant. Often used in horticulture.

Leucanthemum vulgare found on the side of River Road past the camp store. Surrounded by other Ox-eye daisies in a grassy area between the road and the forest. The nearest tree species were Juniperus virginiana.

Erigeron strigosus found on the side of the Hickory Ridge trail at Henry Horton State Park. Founded in bundles. Several examples of Erigeron strigosus in one area. Found in abundance along the trail. Approximately 14 inches tall. Surrounded by many grasses and Quercus species.

Flowering Dogwood (Cornus florida)Observer

Small Cornus florida located on the outer edge of the forest on River Rd. just outside of Henry Horton State Park. Located near various Quercus species. Speciment stood approximately 8 ft tall. In full bloom with white flowers. Stood out amongst the still barren Quercus species. The soil surroundin the tree was covered in fallen leaves and damp.

Rue Anemone (Thalictrum thalictroides)Observer

Anemone acutiloba found along the River Trail at Henry Horton State Oark. Found in a meadow like area surrounded by other small grasses and downed trees. The ground was covered in fallen leaves and the flowers were poking out. The flowers are white with seven petals. The plant itself is relatively small.

American Groundsels and Ragworts (Genus Packera)Observer

Packera glabella found on the side of Wilhoite Mill Trail at Henry Horton State Park. Abundant in the area found. Nearest species are Lonicera mackii. The area had previously been completely overtaken by Lonicera mackii, but after a clearing project the Packera galabella reestablished. The area was wooded and near the Duck River.

Trillium cinematic found on the Hickory Ridge a Trail at Henry Horton State Park. Found amongst many limestone outcroppings. Found among other trillium, may apple, and many different species of trees including a variety of Acer and Quercus. The ground was covered in leaf litter and the soil was damp.

Angelica triquinata found on the roadside of River Rd. just outside the boandary of Henry Horton State Spark. Other weedy and grassy species were found near the specimen. The plant in situ had greenish yellow flowers. The plant was found growing through a gravel rock bed.

Juglans nigra foound at Henry Horton State Park near campstore. The tree is located in a grassy picnic area. The nearest related species are located in the forest area behind the campstore and a row of Celtis occidentalis across a small road. It is a large specimen towering over the nearby Celtis occidentalis.

Liriodendron tulipifera found at Henry Horton State Park. Found near the primitive and group campsites. Found surrounded by Liquidambar styraciflua. There is a road near the tree and in front of the tree is mowed grass. Behind the tree is forest. The tree is approximately 15 ft tall.

Liquidambar styraciflua found at Henry Horton State Park. Located near the campstore near an Eastern Redbud. The tree is around 15 ft. tall. The tree had both buds and fruit on it. The area around the tree is a mowed lawn but there is a forest very close by.
