Giant Spanish-Dagger (Yucca carnerosana)Observer

Two tall about 8 foot tall yucca with yellow leaves pointing down and light green leaves pointing up at different angles in different directions. From far away they looked like grown men standing in the desert, the tallest plants in the area. They stood about 20feet apart with several creosote plants in between them.

Growing against a creosote, it had several heads covered in spines. There was about 26-30 head and it stood about 1-2 feet tall.

Oval like flat with multiples spines on them. Several of these made up the plant itself. As a group they stood about four feet tall on the incline next to the road in Guadalupe National park.

Several long stalks surrounding a dirt road. All the flowers were a pale yellow with many flowers covering the stalk. Some stalks stood tall, some others bent slightly.

Dark brownish-green plastic looking leaves. Round bush with some roots sticking out. The plant stood about 2.5-3 feet tall.

Dark green, with small pointy joints which feel like thorns. Semi- circular shape as seen from far away. The plant stood about one foot tall, surrounded by grasses and other bushes.

About six inches tall, with a lot of spines making most of it look white. Some small pink flowers with yellow centers on top of it. It was surrounded by mostly bare ground but it sat near a small creasote.

About 4 feet long, with a slight green tint to its skin. The snake just lay there on the road, only sticking its tongue out when I got closer. It had light brownish green scales with darker oval patterns. The patterns turned to rings as they near its tail.

Lying in the middle of a wash on the western part of the Guadalupe Mountains. It was about 3feet long, light colored with distinctive darker markings on its back. Black bands on its tail right before the rattler.

The caterpillar was light leafy green, with light angled line pattern on its side. It had a needle thick hook on its rear. It walked across cement floor in the garage at a steady but quick peed. About two, two and a half inches long and half an inch wide.

Several male sotols as noted by the pale yellow coloring. Thick with flowers on their stalks, surrounded by other plants. The sotols stood at least five feet tall as observed on the side of transmountain road.

On the side of the road by Guadalupe Mountains National Park. A tall tree like plant with multiple branches. Thin leaves with yellow flowers that had long thin red stamens sticking out. The seed pods were long and flat, slightly fussy and sticky. The branches were long and speed out, no thorns were found. Multiple birds of paradise were found next to each other, all at different stages of growth. Several seed pods were found under the branches and by other plants nearby.
