Two expired and one live specimen collected at the same small location I have found them for the past year. Always found on tarmac of circle drive and generally after a rain. Appear to be washed down the washout slope between the two cottages. I've never found one in the surrounding brush, leaf or pine litter.

Found two specimens in the road in the rain wash plain at the same location they were located last year. This is the first observation for 2022 having checked there multiple times during the summer. Heavy rains seem to wash them into, or attract them too, the washed out road. This is the first time I have time two living individuals.

Wild guess here for this marine crustacean collected in waquoit bay. Dug up with saccoglossus. I believe the tail was severed by the shovel and the intact animal would have a king lobster like tail.

I know this is some sort of butterfly. Naturalist suggest mouse, but the sheer size of it would suggest the hostess bigger than a mouse.. I found this deceased on my lawn while I was cutting the grass.

MBL Director requested that we try to locate specimens. I purchased the Pennak/Zinn paper describing the group which identified Nobska Beach as a known location from June/July 1939 and a source for the cotypes.
On Sep 20, Bill Grossman made a series of samples at Nobska Beach. He made a series of samples from high to low water at four locations running west to east more or less evenly spaced along the beach. At each location he took three to five samples from the high water mark down by 2-2.5 meter increments. Based on the paper's details he took a vertical shovelful of sand and sampled between 12-15 cm from the surface.
The resultant 16 or so jars were examined by MBLs Carsten Wolff. He found two specimens in the lowest (wettest) sample of the middle two sampling locations. He will look for additional specimens in the samples.

Incidental catch while dragging for squid today off Menemsha. I have heard of several sightings of this species this summer. Two of them in shallow waters. One off Chappaquoit Beach in West Falmouth. One at the Airplane House on Juniper Point. Large stingray in the shallow bight in Little Harbor. 5-6 feet across. Lengthy sightings in 3-4 feet deep mixes eel grass/sand.
I'm guessing this specimen is less than 100 lbs.
