Found this big boy down by Hump Back bridge. Was about to scale the wall for fun and almost put my hand right on him. Thought he was a wolf spider at first.

Found this little guy outside of a brewery. I tried to snap a picture of him but he was running so fast it was hard to get one so I caught him in a jar and snapped a good one before I let him go. This is the second time I've seen one of these ants and was pretty amazed the first time I saw one. Decided to do some research the second time around found out that they are in fact a wingless wasp. The males have wings while the females don't, They also pack a pretty powerful sting. They are parasitic to bumble bees, the females will lay eggs in their nests, once the eggs hatch they eat the bumble bee larva.

Took a trip up to the family mountain house in Front Royal the other weekend and found one of these intimidating creatures on the side of the house. My family up in Pennsylvania use to call them Helgermites and their larvae for is equally as creepy. It's been years since I've seen one of these glad I could snap a pic of it
