What
Gulf Pipefish (Syngnathus scovelli)Observer
hesterbergDescription
This is some species of pipefish, which is an animal, and a deuterstome. I found the pipefish while doing fieldwork hanging off of a red mangrove close to a tidal wetland. The weather was overcast and rainy, ~89F, slight breeze. I think it is a pipefish due to its behavior in the water as it swam, it’s slender, compressed body, and narrow head. I would like to know the species. Please help identify!

Mother and juvenile osprey observed in nest at my field site in Ruskin, Florida. Nest is adjacent to farmland and freshwater wetlands. Temperature was about 89F, slight breeze, sunny. I identified these vertebrates as birds and specifically ospreys due to the sharp beak, talons, and coloration.
