As I was walking up the entrance to the trail, just after crossing the dry creek, I spotted this adult rattlesnake in the middle of the trail. I stopped and watched it for a good 10 minutes as it basked in the sun. It knew I was there. It looked at me briefly, then slithered away. Beautiful.

This beautiful snake was just finishing crossing the trail when I happened upon the tail-end of his body. I stopped and watched, making sure it wasn't a rattler. It then quietly continued its way into the brush on the side of the trail and disappeared.
