Description

Shining karamu
can be a shrub, and can grow up to 6m tall, but usually shorter than 6m having no clear trunk. It is found throughout the North, South and Stewarts island. The flowers are found in groups of 3-5. The fruits can be in the range of 5-12mm long, colour can be pale orange to orange-red, and need a year to ripen.

Leaves: opposite, 7-12mm long, with veins underneath. This is a small-leaved coprosm, and it is the most common one in native scrubland and forest. This coprosma has a distinctively twiggy appearance from its many branches which grow at wide angles to one another and become intertangled.

Pohaehue is a vine that, is known for its branching and climbing ability, and can completely cover shrubs, trees as well as cliff or rock faces in lowland or subalpine forest or scrub. It grows in these areas along forest margins throughout New Zealand. The main stem of this plant may reach a diamter of 10cm with a grey bark.Leaves can vary from 2cm to 8cm long. It has small flowers that grow to 4cm across and appear in inpanicles up to 15cm in length nearly all year round. It is from the family Polygonaceae.
