Found these critters crawling and hopping around on front porch (wood) and in garage (cement).
6 legs, clear exoskeleton, antennae about half as long as body.
Adults ~ 2 mm long and ~ .6 - .8 mm wide (not including legs) at widest part of abdomen.
They are soft bodied = squish easy.
Newly installed bird feeder (2 weeks) on tree hanging over porch.
Any chance the swarm of birds brought this infestation to my front door?
Mushrooms growing all over yard, could this have attracted this particular specie?

A shrub standing 1 M tall with simple, entire, alternate leaf arrangement. Leaf egg shaped.
Flowers 5 regular parts about 1/8" wide. I believe what we are looking at here is 5 fused white sepals and then 5 inner white petals.
Red fruit.
Trunk of shrub is grey.
Growing roadside in a thicket with other shrubs/plants. Found near University of Akron Field Station at Bath Nature Preserve in Summit Co OH.

Located in an open field 30 M up hill of a wetland bog restoration project in the "Garden Bowl" on the Bath Nature Preserve.

Small, yellow, irregular flowerets clustered in a head. Leaves compound, alternate of three leaflets. Leaflets finely toothed along tip margin, with a characteristic bristle tip. Large stipules at base of each leaf.
Found sprawling across pebble littered hot, dry roadside near University of Akron Field Station at Bath Nature Preserve in Summit Co. Ohio.

Bark is smooth, greyish almost white. Stands 10-15 M tall.
Leaf teeth terminate lateral veins. No branching of veins.
Leaf littered floor, somewhat moist soil.
Found in Beefy's Woods at Bath Nature Preserve in Summit Co. Ohio.

American Hornbeam (Carpinus caroliniana)Observer

Bark is smooth grey and has the characteristic appearance of muscles under skin, hence the common name.
The leaves are simple, alternate, lancelet shaped, and finely doubly toothed. The characteristic catkins are still present and visible in the photo.
Located roadside near Beefy's Woods, under a fairly thick canopy at the Bath Nature Preserve in Summit Co. Ohio.

This is Red Oak identified by it's bark and observing from far bellow the leaf shape.
The bark has the Red Oak characteristic appearance of bright stripes running down the center of it's ridges.
Found roadside near Beefy's Woods, stretching to the top of the canopy, lowest branch >10 M up. At Bath Nature Preserve in Summit Co. Ohio.

Northern Red Oak (Quercus rubra)Observer

It's obviously an oak.. But what species? Leaf is smooth underneath, except tiny orange tufts in the axils of veins. Leaf sinuses extend about half-way to midrib. Leaves are thin but firm.
In "The Woody Plants of Ohio" by E. Lucy Braun, it keys out to Q. borealis (Q. rubra).
Found roadside in open field near University of Akron Field Station.

Eastern Poison Ivy (Toxicodendron radicans)Observer

Poison Ivy vine growing up the trunk of a Shagbark Hickory near Beefy's Woods at the Bath Nature Preserve in Summit Co. Ohio.
Backside of the plant is facing a wooded hillside and the front side is facing into a clearing where it may get direct sunlight. Front side is from angle of first photo.
Characteristic 3 leaflet vine. Front leaflet has long stem and 2 flanking leaflets have comparatively short stems. On this plant we see a variation between straight entire edges and coarse toothing.
Fruits can be seen as light green berries in the last photo, though, it's blurry. I will return tomorrow for a better shot.

Bark is shaggy. Leaves are alternate and pinnate compound. Leaflets are toothed. Apical leaflets are larger than those more basal. Has quite large end buds. Evidence light brown pumpkin shaped nuts on ground under tree.
Many are found in the areas surrounding the University of Akron Field Station at Bath Nature Preserve in Summit Co. Ohio.
Identified by bark and keyed out using Tree Finder by May Watts.

Found on manicured lawn at entrance of park.

Plants observed were 1-2 dm tall. Violet inflorescence. Small, irregular florets. Leaves alternating, compound, 3 entire leaflets, each leaflet bears a characteristic white v-shape marking.
Found roadside on open hillside thriving in very dry, rocky, packed earth. At Bath Nature Preserve in Summit Co. Ohio.

Fruits absent so based on other features. Flowers 3/4" to 1" wide, white petals and longer than sepals. Many florets organized in an inflorescence. Notice there are many stamens protruding from the florets. Thorny and hairy stem. Leaves compound with 3 rigorously toothed leaflets.

Scarlet Hawthorn (Crataegus coccinea)Observer

Simple alternating leaves with different sized teeth along margin. Deep set veins. Branches bear smooth tapering thorns. Flowers were absent in this observation but you can still see the fruits/seeds that remain.
Found on grassy knoll adjacent to a swampy riverside in an open field at Bath Nature Preserve in Summit Co. Ohio.

Yellow irregular flower approximately 2 dm tall. Flowers in umbels at the end of branches. Growing in scattered patches. Petals irregular, shaped and cupped into a pea-like pod. Alternating compound leaves, arranged into 2 basal and 3 apical entire leaflets.
Found roadside near Beefy's Woods on open hillside thriving in very dry, rocky, packed earth.
