Many of these small spiders together create a net almost covering a coprosma bush. They have small triangular bronze coloured egg cases which are attached to any structure nearby as well as the bush.

Clear firm jell creatures with a small nucleus. Many thousands of these were washed up at the mouth of Lake Ferry and deposited on the sand. Nearby gulls seemed uninterested in them. They were all un-moving.
Approximately 25-30mm long.

First one I have heard or seen this season.
I was able to listen to the cuckoo's song for a minute or two and finally saw it but it was gone before I could get a photo. I was able to clearly ID it though.

Alerted to the falcon's presence by 3 tui bursting out of the trees to give chase. By the time I got the camera out it was high in the sky- hence the poor quality photo. It stayed around the area for about an hour but never came vary close. It seemed to be riding the thermals at times.
