This begonia is endemic for the Cleopatra's Needle Mountain Range in Palawan, Philippines. This large pitcher plant is endemic for Palawan and only occurs at higher altitudes in the Cleopatra's Needle Mountain Range. Utricularia heterosepala is found in small forest streams in forested areas. The species is endemic for the Philippines and under threat as forest streams are drying up due to continues logging activities. This specimen was found in a forest stream in dry deciduous forest very close to the beach with possibly some influx of saline water.
