Found among the cool vegetation of a watered garden near my house. When caught, it curled all around my hand, rubbing it's stinky waste on me to get me to let go. Did not check sex because of that reason.

Found in creek next to my home. Creek bed was mostly dry with some slight dampness under the rocks in the original runway of the creek. After hiking a small bit south, the creek would lead to small pockets of water where there were many tadpoles present.

Found scurrying around woodpiles with several other Fence Lizards. Determined to be female after inspection because there were no large double scales next to the cloaca. Also there was very little blue on this lizard.

Found on dirt road near my house, coming out of moist green garden. Then was killed by my father to prevent accidental encounter with my younger siblings. Determined to be male after I squeezed out hemipenes, after the head was removed.

Along with Red-legged Frogs, I also found 9 California Newts at Whiskey Pond at the California Army National base Camp San Luis Obispo with research associate Peter Waldburger as we conducted the frog survey. Found swimming under water and remained still unless otherwise disturbed.

Found under brush in the sand dunes by Black Lake, near Arroyo Grande, CA; picture is just to verify presence, I did get a closer encounter and confirmed it as a Western Fence Lizard. Large size (~3 in. SVL), dark colored mottled back.

Adult; Brown, rough dorsal surface of body and smooth, bright orange ventral surface of body; Found underwater in small stream, half hidden under rocks.
Was the first to find this newt but had difficulty uploading observation to iNaturalist and I was also the one who found and caught the specimen while everyone took pictures.
