Habitat: Specimen was growing in a large patch between mud in the vernal pool and sensitive fern patch. It was growing around dead brush from the spring ice-out.

Habitat: Specimen on a small slope going down into the river. It is in a thin stand of hardwood trees. The specimen is the only softwood in the area.

Substrate: The soil was dark and moist. It was also very rocky and rooted by grass.
Habitat: The specimen was growing on a grassy slope descending into the St. John River. The ground was very mossy and grew different types of grasses and shrubs.

Substrate: Soil was dark and moist. It was also heavily packed with rocks.
Habitat: The specimen was growing out of a steep eroded bank overhanging the ATV trail. This species dominates the understory along with some raspberries.

Substrate: Soil was dark and moist. The soil was also weeded by the large amounts of grass in the area.
Habitat: The specimen was growing in a thick patch of various grasses. It was very tall (about 3.5 feet). It was collected at the confluence of the ATV trail and a small footpath. A small swamp with cattails was located behind the patch of grasses.

Habitat: Specimen was the tallest plant in the immediate area. The rocky ground was sparsely covered with moss. The gravel pit is adjacent to a small meadow and is surrounded by large hard and softwood.

Location: Specimen was on a steep ATV trail on the south side of Fort Kent, Maine overlooking town.
Substrate: Soil had a moist and lightly colored rocky top layer mixed with dead organic matter. It was darker underneath this top layer.
Habitat: Specimen was next to a man-made ATV trail. There was a grassy part on both sides that has been cut back by humans. Beyond the grass was a thicket of tall ferns and raspberries. There were overhanging hardwoods such as aspen, birch, and maple.

Location: Specimen was on the ski trail next to the tunnel that goes under the road to the call center.
Substrate: It was growing in a very thick mat of moss. The soil underneath was lightly colored and moist.
Habitat: Specimen was on a small slope beside the ski trail. The slope was covered in moss. Small quaking aspen and dogwood are spread out thinly as well as some grasses.

Location: Specimen was found beside a grassy cross country ski trail in Fort Kent, Maine.
Substrate: Soil had a very dark colored top layer that was full of organic matter. Under that thin layer is a lightly colored moist soil.
Habitat: Specimen was growing in a small patch. All the stems originated from the same spot in the soil which was about six inches in diameter. The stems branch out from this one spot. It was growing in with raspberry and goldenrod with fallen brush behind. There were small ash trees overhanging the plants.
