Fox Squirrel (Sciurus niger)Observer
lauriereiterDescription
What appears to be a Fox Squirrel was heard making high-pitched screeching sounds so loud I couldn
hear in house with windows open and music playing. I went outside and saw squirrel in Ficus tree near a squirrel nest in tree (unclear if it's in use). He appeared agitated and at first I thought he was screeching at another squirrel but I couldn't find another one. He flattened to tree limb when he saw me and eventually made his way through more Ficus down to fence between yard and calmly walked into another yard. Temp was 81, shady in yard.

Snail observed attached to front of house on brick (south facing). Second snail I've ever seen in the yard in 2.5 years. Gave gentle pull but snail attached to brick. Checked back 24 hours later and still there. Wide shot shows overview - tucked behind shrubbery in area that's almost always shaded. Cloudy 64 degrees. Sprinklers ran in area about three hours prior to observation.

Fox Squirrel (Sciurus niger)Observer
lauriereiterDescription
Squirrel observed eating a peeled banana on ground in thinly wooded area on heavily traveled hillside zig-zag walk next to Grand View Elementary School. Squirrel climbed tree to check me out after I interrupted his snack. About 68 degrees. School has recently been dismissed and there were lots of people in area but squirrel didn't seem to mind.

What
Typical Glass Snails (Genus Oxychilus)Observer
lauriereiterDescription
Dozens (at least 50) dead snails along Veteran's Parkway trail. Most very small (see photos) but about 10 adults. The adults had shells cracked open while small ones were mostly intact with insides missing. Overview shows vegetation that primarily lines trail. 64 degrees overcast and shaded and breezy. Most shells were white but few brown ones with ants and other insects apparently feeding on insides, which were still visible in brown shells. Did not see any alive snails. There was light rain the evening prior.
