Wattled Jacana (Jacana jacana)Observer
lisabrunettiDescription
The climate has been extra hot, and this nesting Jacana at times wandered from the nest, but many times when it returned, it squatted over it instead of setting the eggs.

What a surprise! While Least Grebes entertained me in the same area, I realized a new-to-me sound. Not stilts, not grebes or gallinules, and what a shock these birds gave me! Zafiro rarely cuts the palm leaves, so there were low branches between the humedal and me. The birds never saw me. Also by the cattails were a nesting C. Gallinule and a nesting Least Grebe.

Gray-breasted Martin (Progne chalybea)Observer
lisabrunettiDescription
Sunny and hot, following intense rains the night before. The pond was very active with swallows and martins. The Gray-breasted is the most dominant/often seen martin/swallow in the area. Mixed with the martins were Blue & White Swallows and a mystery martin that was much darker on the chest.

Gray-breasted Martin (Progne chalybea)Observer
lisabrunettiDescription
With no way to decipher these martins that seemed larger than the blue/white swallow, yet darker than the Gray-breasted Martin, I am grateful for help on the correct identification. The night before this 1-pm sighting, we had strong intense rains, but it was sunny and hot as the gray-breasted, blue & white and Chestnut-collared 'regulars' were circling/making touch-and-go swoops along the small laguna.
After perusing many books and online options, I remain baffled. Thanks in advance for your help - and then I can separate the images into more observations - or just save the best of these.

One mature oriole watched from a nearbydead tree as these two foraged in the muyuyus. A Yellow-rumped Cacique flopped into the scene, spooked the bird on the right, but they all adjusted and resumed their perusal of the muyuyus.
