What
Weeping Willow (Salix babylonica)Observer
matthewhamDescription
I believe this is a weeping willow tree. It was located near Bathurst and Harbord. It looks like at some point in it's life a cable of some sort was strung along its trunk since there is a large long scare running vertically in its bark. Given its location is likely that it was planted there many years ago.

What
Blow Flies (Family Calliphoridae)Observer
matthewhamDescription
This was one of the several flies which were trapped in between my windows in the kitchen. It seems they might have hitched a ride on some food and since there were no new ones born after the initial batch.
Compared to a lot of other flies I've encountered, these were pretty slow.
