What
Downy Woodpecker (Dryobates pubescens)Observer
mdpalmerDescription
There was one Downy Woodpecker that I saw in Centennial woods. Very clearly either a Downy Woodpecker or a Hairy Woodpecker. What made me ultimately determine it as a downy was the smaller body size and lack of a distinguished neck. Today in class were were talking about beak size; however, I was unable to get a very clear view of the beak I believe it was not overly long as would be expected if it were a Hairy Woodpecker.
