This is from a very tall (50 foot +) hickory tree in my neighborhood. The bark is vertical and ridged, as shown in my other observation. Was wondering what kind of hickory this might be?

Also found on trail beside Laurel River, Madison County, NC (southern Appalachians)....he jumped in water while we were observing him. Would love to know what kind of frog he is.
