The courting pair (male on the left) was observed by guide Cristian Ureña MartÃnez while leading a group along a trail in the Tirimbina Natural Reserve (Puerto Viejo, Sarapiqui, COSTA RICA). The photos were reported by Branko Hilje of Costa Rica, and the identity confirmed by David Wake, UC Berkeley.
According to Wake, this species has not been recorded from La Selva before, and the closest unquestioned locality for the species is over 20 km S in Cinchona.
