Allegheny Blackberry (Rubus allegheniensis)Observer
mnerrieDescription
Note the unique flat 1/2" x 1 1/2" wide cane of this bramble. The original plant was covered by a pile of gravel. I'm guessing that when it grew through the gravel a few of the cames somehow fused together into as single cane.
This is an example of Fasciation - when plant structures do not grow in a typical fashion, forming unusual structures of multiple merged stems, deformed flower clusters, or peculiar leaves.

Because of the roundish leaves and the large sepals compared to Pyrola elliptica I think this is American Wintergreen.
