Hedgpeth's Sapsucker (Elysia hedgpethi)Observer
msiDescription
Looks, like Elysia hedgpethi, which I've seen in the bay once before (many years ago; I'll have to check my records). A sacoglossan rather than a true nudibranch. The color comes (primarily) from ingested chloroplasts. Its favored food is the green seaweed Codium fragile (also known as Dead Man's Fingers, Oyster Thief, and Sputnick Weed), which occurs in the bay as a non-native Japanese subspecies, Codium fragile tomentosoides.
