4 individaul penguin footprints heading out to sea. Within 100m of eastend surf club as seen in the photographes. Assumed the prints did not include the dead penguin also seen further up on walkway. Dead penguin was however nearby 2 sets of prints.

DEAD PENGUIN Ngamotu Beach, New Plymouth. Found at base of the rocks above high tide mark. It has a wound on the left side of its head (hidden). It seems to have been dead for a few days based on the state of the body decomposition.

9.25pm. Seen quick walking in a direct line approximately 25m from the top of the dune towards 2nd Avenue eventually disappearing under the closest bach Number 113. Survey was conducted prior to the rock sea wall extension at Urenui motor camp.

9.51pm. 1 bird seen as part of a night survey prior to the expansion of the rock sea wall at Urenui motor camp sea front. This bird was seen just past the river mouth between the water and dune amongst the driftwood.
