Nightshades (Genus Solanum)

April 11, 2016

Description

Prostrate, not over 10 inches tall. No flowers to help ID. Early April it has green seed pods about 3/4" long and wide (see photos.) When cut open they're green inside with lots of little seeds. Smells and looks like an edible fruit, but not sure.

What

California King Snake (Lampropeltis californiae)

Date

May 1, 2015

Description

Everytime I walk along this area of road, I look for reptiles on the north side of the road. I often see them there. I've seen a few kings snakes, rattlers, large Ali gator lizards...didn't want to grab it to pull it out of the bush, so I just got a night shot of the back end of it.
