Aside from the count, I was in the vineyard for about 40 minutes observing a group of 4 Silvereyes who had got into the nets. This was a chance for me to photograph them as they are too quick to photograph when the are free! After I photographed them, I removed them from the bird netting.

Monarch Butterfly caterpillars and pupae in chrysalis. Adult butterflies were originally attracted by a swan plant, where they laid eggs. The caterpillars ate the swan plant and have now migrated to a wooden deck chair to form the chrysalis. At this stage there are 3 chrysalis and 8 caterpillars.

17 White Butterflies spotted amongst the Californian Thistles which lined the gravel road at the Lincoln University Vineyard. The observation was made within a 20 minute time period, from 11:30am till 11:50am on a sunny day
