What
Rio Grande Chirping Frog (Eleutherodactylus campi)Observer
pstoufferDescription
There were a few rain frogs calling beginning on the main trail south of the clearing with the building. This was just off the road between the building and the main entrance. This regular pattern of three calls and then silence seems more consistent with E. campi (e.g. https://www.inaturalist.org/observations/115400962) than E. planirostris (https://www.inaturalist.org/observations/115731171)..

What
Common Five-lined Skink (Plestiodon fasciatus)Observer
pstoufferDescription
Looks like four upper labials and two enlarged postlabials (page 308 in Peterson guide 4th edition), which eliminate Southeastern Five-lined and Broad-headed. The middle row of undertail scales doesn't look convincingly wide to me, but maybe it is the angle. Or maybe the tail has regenerated?

Looks like a leapin' lizard, but it is dead and stiff. Five upper labials distinguish it from the unexpected Southeastern Five-lined Skink.
