Observer

Date

February 12, 2016

Description

This plant was found growing in patches and appears to have a waxy cuticle. Its veins form a network suggesting it is a dicot. There were no flowers on it further suggesting it pollinates by the use of wind however it is small and low to the ground. Any information on this plant would be nice so please comment.

What

Western Honey Bee (Apis mellifera)

Observer

ptomarpk098

Date

February 12, 2016

Description

Saw honey bees nested in the cavity of a tree, not a honey comb. They were pretty active in the morning but i might have accidentally hurt this little guy trying to take a pic of the hive. The hive itself was right of the footpath and had maybe about 100 bees in it. I expected to see hundreds in it but maybe they were deeper in the tree cavity.
