I was staying at a lodge in the Serengeti National Park (Tanzania) and I didn't notice this colony of bats in a tree right outside my room, it wasn't until one of the lodge staff pointed them out to me that I realised what they were. They all looked like dead leaves hanging from the branches, and when I looked closer I saw that they were bats - so, I grabbed my camera. When I first saw them they all had their heads shielded behind their wings but when I got a bit closer to take a photo they all peaked their heads out and just stared right at me.
