robin-popeDescription
I photographed this Baboon on the Zambian Nyika. It was part of a troop of close to 30. I was interested by the black hands and black patches on the cheeks which I am unfamiliar with in the yellow baboon. Head shape different from the chacma. Would like to know whether this is a sub sp of the Yellow?

Oates's Vine Snake (Thelotornis capensis ssp. oatesi)Observer
robin-popeDescription
Observed this 'Twig' (Vine) snake ambushing a bird feeder in my garden. Need confirmation whether it is Mozambicanus or capensis?
The snake lowered its head and hung down vertically. A number of Mannikins and Blue Waxbills attracted to the feeder inadvertently landed on the 'twig' before moving to the feeder. Rather unusual picture second pipcture.
The snake approx 1.5m in length.
I will see whether there is a more focussed picture of the birds on the snake.

Location. Liuwa Plains National park West Zambia.
An area well known for ballooning spiderlings.
Midday observed against the sun observed hundreds of spiders web strands, crisscrossing the sky. some had fluffy tufts. The photographed spider rappelled out of the sky on a strand to land on me. Another on another strand avoided me by very quickly climbing back up the strand of silk it descended on. The strands must have still been borne aloft by a silk tufted balloon. Quite extraordinary.
I have taken a couple of pictures of the sky in which one can just make out these fluffy ballooning spiders web strands.
One wonders whether when there are a great number of silk threads in the air, the spiderlings could cross from one strand to another in mid air like an aerial walkway.
An identification of the spider would be in the picture would be appreciated.
