Not sure at all what this is. Very pale with sets of black dots on the back. About a centimeter wide and 1.5 inches long. Curled into a ball when collected in garage; placed it in the yard, where it started burrowing. Would love help with the ID!

Not sure what this is. Too flat to be a cicada. Looks like a very large "roly poly" bug, with small pinchers on the rear. Never seen them here before today; perhaps the rain brought them out?
