Hi, I teach tennis in Southern California and recently found only
the very odd-looking foot/leg of a large bird on one of my courts. There are several large horned owls that inhabit the trees around the courts so I'm guessing
that is the predator. My guess in poking around the internet is that it was a juvenile heron? There is a golf course nearby with water features. Any positive ID would be appreciated.
