Observations by sundog

Found a male Monterey Ring-necked Snake (Diadophis punctatus vandenburghi) on my front porch, in Camarillo, CA. I believe this to be the same snake I found a few years ago round the side of my house by the dripping spigot. I'm glad to see him again. He seemed to remember me, because he calmed down within minutes of capture, and settled easily into the warmth of my hand.

Before meeting him that first time, I had no idea that Ring-necked Snakes were found in my area!
