After I turned on to Austin House Rd I saw a bobcat leap across the road and run down an open hill. It turned sideways and let me take a few pictures then moved on.

While on an eagle hunt we spotted a lone Snow Goose in a field. I managed to capture it as it took off when we stopped for a closer look. Unfortunately I could not get a clearer shot as I couldn't flip the setting to 'action' quick enough!

North American Porcupine (Erethizon dorsatum)Observer
tagl65Description
I came across a freshly deceased porcupine. It was the morning after a hard core overnight freeze. Initial inspection showed no signs of foul play. No blood or obvious trauma, just lying there on its side with its eyes open. It was fairly large and healthy yet looked a bit aged. He may have died of natural causes. I checked back exactly a week later and it was still there with no signs of disturbance. The only difference was that the organs had started to seep out and a slight stench was in the air. 2 weeks after that there was just a pile of quills and a few ransacked bones. I plan to find that skull for my collection!
I included 2 close up shots of a hind foot and 1 of a front foot.

Seen May 2010... Almost stepped on this little guy while roaming an old logging trail. It was amazing to watch it stay so still while I was taking photos of it.

We came upon this little guy scampering along the forest floor. Each time we approached it would freeze. When we would stop it would take off (not very fast, I might add). After I got a few quick videos then I backed off and gave it berth to scurry up this tree.

One of our most unexpected and rewarding sights occurred one early evening in June (year tbd)when we came upon a Cow moose with her male and female yearlings. We watched, filmed, and photo'd in awe as we witnessed a live moose family break up. The bull yearling kept following his mom, but she kept bluff charging him away. The female stayed near her, but out of the way. The bull finally got the hint and wandered towards the woods. The other 2 crossed the road and headed up a driveway. He watched a bit longer then disappeared into the tree line. I always wondered what the time span was before she would boot her female out.

Exact location and date tbd...
We came upon a large rafter of turkeys crossing the road. Several were unable to cross when a few vehicles coming from the other direction did not slow down .
The 3 single shots are of the same turkey who flew into a tree, waited, then flew across the road to land in the field near the others. The shot back dropped in maroon is to show more details of its body stance.
The 2 group shots show some in the road and the others working the field.
