I am a marine biologist, educator and shark conservationist. As the Director of the non profit Sea Stewards and Shark Stewards, I have produced several documentaries on sharks and shark protection and am involved with anti shark finning and shark fin trade policy. As a research associate at the California Academy of Sciences, I have been tagging and monitoring several San Francisco Bay shark species and this tool allows us to increase our network of observations to better understand the geographic and temporal distribution of elasmobranches. Shark watch is a great educational tool for the public to understand local species, but also helps us understand historical interactions and shark - human encounters along the California coastline, and the world.
