A large male and two (three?) does of the Pére David's Deer, Elaphurus davidianus, were observed at Purple Sage Ranch. This ranch has several animals, but these large deer are special. They were brought in from China long ago, and now are extinct in the wild.

A nice and calm animal, just watched our group slowly pass by on a short hay ride trip.
