What

Mediterranean House Gecko (Hemidactylus turcicus)

Observer

natureinla

Date

October 2014

Description

"I found what appears to be a baby Gecko indoors when I opened up shop early this morning where I work in North Hollywood, CA. I hesitated to release it outside because I was worried that it was an invasive species and I am concerned about the impact of non-natives on our native lizard populations. I have given it water and tiny insects, but I have not witnessed it eat.

A gecko was found there, same building, years ago. 2006? 2007? It was much larger. I honestly thought it was an escaped leopard gecko, but now I wonder. That previous gecko escaped."
