Description

Stan Molles (American) meets Takahe (New Zealander). Takahe are one of the few surviving species of flightless New Zealand bird. Takahe were thought to be extinct for about fifty years before one last population was discovered in a remote montane area of Fiordland. Now you can see them on Tiritiri Matangi open sanctuary, an island off the coast of Auckland city that is being restored to native forest by the local community.
