the pattern of this bird suggests it might be a pied stilt/black stilt hybrid. Note the black stilt behind, however the black stilt pictured is unlikely to be the parent as it has only just assumed adult plumage. More likely the black parent (if my theory on hybrid is right) is the mature black stilt that has been seen at Ashley off and on for a few years.
