Description

We've two huge new water tanks on the hill behind the Flamingo Hotel. They've put in a new path climbing the hill around them; and happily done little or nothing to disturb the vegetation. On the south slope under the tanks a wonderful growth of Dutchman's pipe has emerged in the dappled light under the Oaks; great for the Pipevine Swallowtails that 'hilltop' here from nearby Santa Rosa and Brush Creeks. Still; I suppose they couldn't resist scattering a few sacks of Crimson clover on the disturbed ground. If true to form, it will add a bit of color, a dab of organified nitrogen; then fade away over summer never to return.
