What

Thin Ground Snake (Erythrolamprus taeniurus)

Observer

mcclarinj

Date

January 2, 2015

Description

Brown, faintly patterned (except for belly) racer-like snake that I thought might be a juvenile Chironius monticola but clearly is not once the scale count and pattern is compared. In the comparison images C. Monticola is on the bottom in each case. Looking for an identification of the brown specimen.

This cloud forest region is known for only four snakes. This would make a fifth species. Cosanga, Napo, Ecuador, 2,100 meters elevation.
