Black-bellied Slender Salamander (Batrachoseps nigriventris)

Observer

natureinla

Date

December 2012

Description

"I've been meaning to submit these photos for a while. We see these creatures all the time in our backyard. There is a county easement at the back of our yard between our block and the next which I think increases chances of wildlife. We get tons of birds, butterflies, these lizards, caterpillars, and occasional possums and raccoons, even a coyote recently.

"The first two are of a salamander we often find when planting, moving pots, etc. These were taken Dec. 23, 2012, at 1:30 in the afternoon. Partly cloudy day.

"I'm also including a photo of our yard for reference (though it is much more lush now with vegetables, natives, and fruit trees)."
