American Wigeon
Anas americana
female in flight - landing on ice

My wife calls this shot "Angel Duck". The pond was frozen solid and I was sitting on the edge of it where several wigeons were coming in to land. Upon landing they have to spread out their wings, like flaps on an airplane, to slow down as they slide across the ice. Having them coming right at me was very interesting. Several shots of this female and one shot of a male posted.
