Several small (less than 1 cm.) Gall Wasp egg cases were attached to the underside of a dead oak leaf. The cases are hard, but most have pinholes and appear to be empty.
Apparently there were at least three wasps waiting to emerge. The egg cases and wasps were released after photos were taken.
