These images are from 26 year old slides. This Hook-billed Kite was soaring over Santa Ana NWR in south Texas. The barred primaries and secondaries and the distinctive paddle-shaped wings are distinctive to those who know this bird. Two images provided. The species is a rare but regular resident in several parks and refuges in deep south Texas.
