The Least Flycatcher (Empidonax minimus) breeds across much of the northern United States and most of Canada. It winters mainly south of the United States, but may sometimes be found in Florida or other Gulf Coast areas during winter. This is an active little flycatcher which is fairly common in the proper habitat. The individual shown in the photo here was a spring migrant near Driftwood, Hays Co., Texas, in May, 1996.
