In high elevation (8200 ft) grasslands, habitat and range of Gunnison's Prairie Dogs. Note the silvery gray tail instead of black-tipped tail of Black-tailed Prairie Dogs (which occur at lower elevations on the plains). I saw many scores of these animals along a 10 miles stretch of Hwy 64 in this area.
