Description

This juvenile Semipalmated Sandpiper was identified by its black legs, crisply edged covert feathers, short, fairly straight-sided bill with a slightly rounded tip, only a faint brush of rufous edging on the scapular feathers, and its overall bulky-looking body and small head (when compared to one of the several nearby Western Sandpipers).
