Description
Common low shrub in small interdunal bog with Myrica gale, Salix candida, and Sarracenia purpurea.
I was walking through a white cedar-oak dune forest when I glimpsed a semi-opening through the branches beyond. This looked promising so I pursued it -- not exactly an easy thing to do! The conifer swamps are nearly impenetrable in northern Michigan, and it didn't take long before I had lost sight of the trail behind me. No matter. I eventually stumbled into the opening, which turned out to be a small interdunal bog that had a beautiful colony of bog rosemary right in the middle of it. I smiled. I had wanted to see this plant during my time in Michigan, and I'm glad I got to see it.
