A male and female pileated woodpecker have been present on and off as of late in our neighbor's yard. Many large holes have been chipped out in the basswoods, maples, etc. I am wondering if they might nest, or if they are here to feed and would rather nest a few hundred yards to the north where there is a larger woodland.
